Get Involved It costs nothing to get involved in The Hondurensis Project. Although we do ask that you are a member of The Amazona society (the dues are only $20.00 per year) in order to have the DNA fingerprinting done, there is no fee involved in being a part of the project. If you own an Amazon, you just might find The Amazona Society a fun and informative club to belong to. They are a group of dedicated aviculturists specializing in Amazon parrots. Check out their web site at www.amazonasociety.org A little effort is all it will take to save a species. Being able to locate and keep track of the Hondurensis amazons that we have in this country is just the beginning little baby step in helping to save them. We need a self-sustaining population here in order to ensure that they will be with us for generations to come. we cannot accomplish this if we don't know where these birds are. Even though you may not want to sell or donate your bird, or even breed your bird, just having an accurate census of them will help us in our efforts. All information that you will provide will be kept strictly confidential except that information directly pertaining to the bird. (ie. age, sex, status, and origination if known) At this point we do not have birds available to place with individuals as pairs. We do have a VERY limited number of single birds available to pair with a bird you already own. Negotiations for those birds will be done between the two parties involved. Even if you don't own one you can still get involved. Interested in helping out, but don't own a Hondurensis? We're not proud. We'll take all the help we can get. Just give us a call or email us at thehondurensisproject@THPusa.com and we'll figure out what you can do to help. We need support in various areas. Some of the birds we get are donated to the Project. Some need to be purchased. Some need vet care, or a ride to their new home - be it by car or plane. We can always used people willing to help out in these areas.
